It’s summer in Calgary and with that comes one of the city’s favourite traditions: Shakespeare on the Go!
Theatre Calgary’s long-standing Shakespeare by the Bow program is back again this year and once again hitting the road to bring a classic work by William Shakespeare to multiple parks, community associations in Calgary and surrounding areas, as well as Heritage Park.
For 2021, the traditional Shakespeare by the Bow is being re-imagined and going on the road in a fun and safe way. Theatre Calgary, in partnership with The Shakespeare Company and Hit & Myth Productions, will be taking their emerging artists to a variety of Calgary locations for the public to enjoy during the month of August. This year's Shakespeare on the Go will allow Theatre Calgary to reach out, in a new way, to more communities and people of Calgary and surrounding areas.
Earlier this month, Theatre Calgary announced their new Artistic Associate, Zach Running Coyote, made possible through the ROZSA Foundation IBPOC Arts Leaders Residency Grant. Learn more about Zach with ACQ!
Shakespeare on the Bow has a long tradition (32 years and counting) of taking the bard outdoors each summer in Calgary, sharing accessible theatre to anyone ready to roll out a picnic blanket and enjoy. This year,, Theatre Calgary Artistic Director Stafford Arima wants to be sure that the tradition continues – online.
