It’s time to get out in the sun enjoy live performing arts in the great outdoors because ArtsXpeditions is back! Entering its third season of popping up in neighbourhoods all over Calgary, ArtsXpeditions has shared music and dance, but this is the first year that it will be sharing live theatre performances.
Our provincial government is lifting all Covid-19 restrictions as part of “Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan”, on July 1. And while some may be ready to jump into a no-restrictions summer with both feet, others are still feeling a little tentative and only ready to dip a toe in. We’ve rounded up a few ideas for both the jumpers and the toe-dippers to safely enjoy the arts this summer.
As COVID-19 has swept over the world, every performing arts centre has found themselves suddenly in a position where we are unable to share art in a safe and accessible way. Online performances multiplied, and now with the weather warmer, backyard concerts have popped up. With our audience members unable to come to us, Arts Commons started ArtsXpeditions, surprise arts encounters in parks and street corners around the city.
